In reading the DOORS 9.3 release notes, I was very disappointed to find that the standard Windows versions are no longer supported. Is this really true? Does anyone have any information on this? |
Re: DOORS 9.3 Server support for Windows 7 Professional? |
Re: DOORS 9.3 Server support for Windows 7 Professional? It seems to me that DOORS v9.3 (is Supported up to Windows 7). And I don't understand from the DOORS v 9.3.0.2 readme help files and System Requirements section on what makes you think it is NOT? NOTE: according to microsoft you can also run Windows 7 in Windows XP mode to allow for programs that seem to fall short if run on Windows 7 only. Here is what I also located about DOORS v9.3 and Windows 7 on a search of the ibm site: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21410547 gsdguy ... :) |

Re: DOORS 9.3 Server support for Windows 7 Professional? I charged ahead with installing the DOORS 9.3 Server and Client on Windows 7 Professional. The install went ahead without any complaints. I was upgrading from DOORS 9.1 to 9.3. When I tried to start DOORS, I encountered a licensing error. I played around with a number of options. I finally found that I had to rename the old DOORS 9.1 license file to get the license manager to prompt me for the license information. Once I was able to point to the new DOORS 9.3 license file, DOORS 9.3 started up and is running fine. |
Re: DOORS 9.3 Server support for Windows 7 Professional? Paul_Franz_NYSTEC - Fri Jan 28 10:56:46 EST 2011 Ahhhh....these results both make sense. The license.dat file (to run 9.3 clients) needs to be one generated post the release date of 9.3 software, we are in the same process of updating all of our DOORS licenses to precede the 9.3 client & server updates so we can update from 9.1 to 9.3 as well. On the 9.3 server ability to run on Windows 7(i agree with Pekka, the 9.3 readme does not say anything about a Windows 7 server version). Since you have a local license, and 9.3 client too on the laptop, running on the laptop with Windows 7 OS, that same situation crops up when you want to add the DOORS Example database(used to be the training database) as it installs a server service on desk or laptop pc, in other words, it adds the DOORS server service at a port 29999 on the local pc so that the user can play around without creating havoc on the real server based production server, but in your case, the need is for the user to run DOORS on the laptop while not connected to the local area network due to it limitations at this specific site. Thus, running with local license and local database on the laptop... I guess that at some point the laptop doors users are moving data around from the laptops over to other network doors systems, probably via archive & restore or another method. gsdguy |
Re: DOORS 9.3 Server support for Windows 7 Professional?
So the older versions of Windows are supported. We have v9.3 working in preparation for IT imposing Windows 7 on us.
